Tomas Salinas: Owner, General Building Contractor

Tomas became a California State Licensed Contractor in 1998, after working for a local construction company for several years. He earned a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Industrial Technology from Humboldt State University. Tomas enjoys bringing together the art and science of good design in creating satisfying work and living environments for his clients. He is committed to the company's growth and development, particularly in such areas as green building and designing for small spaces.

Dave Mathieson: Project Coordinator/Foreman

Dave has been employed as a lead carpenter and foreman with Heartwood Design/Build since April 2006, more recently taking on project coordination. He comes to us having many years of experience in this field, having first been employed with his father's own construction company and later being self-employed. Dave brings a high degree of quality and care to his role of overseeing all aspects of site operations, including managing the crew and subcontractors, material acquisition and customer service.

Micah Mathieson: Foreman

Micah has been with Heartwood Design/Build since August of 2006. Micah comes from a multigenerational construction family. He brings excellent quality and care to his projects overseeing all aspects of site operations, including managing the crew and subcontractors, material acquisition and customer service. Just as he demonstrated in becoming a national collegiate wrestling champion, Micah’s enthusiasm, drive and focus consistently shows in his work.

Kris Wells: Foreman

Kris started for Heartwood Design/Build after graduating from McKinleyville High School's Building Trades Program in 2004. He brings a creative mind and an excellent ability to problem solve. Kris also has a high degree of quality and care in his role of overseeing all aspects of site operations, including managing the crew and subcontractors, material acquisition and customer service. He is known for his "nose to the grindstone" approach to completing projects.

Jim Lowry: Architectural Designer & Drafter

Jim has worked with Heartwood Design/Build since 2003, bringing with him over 30 years of experience in the construction industry. He draws plans and submits projects to governing agencies. He also performs electrical services for the company.

Katherine Salinas: Front Office

Katherine takes care of the bookkeeping, accounts payable as well as payroll for the company.
